Well....since this is an introduction...here I am....an old ...err hobbit...I suppose. But none-the-less an ex-building inspector, log home builder, appraisor, and now design and help animate movies of log homes, waterparks, and neat new buildings at The Shire in Bend Oregon. A hobbit hole is on the main front page of this site. I own and am webmaster at Log Homes on the Internet and have been for ...ummm...10 years? I am also, VP at Log Rhythms
I'm glad to be aboard! |

Thanks for being brave enough to be the first to join! If you'd like, I can create sections specifically for log cabin construction for you to post any information to? |

Very generous of you, Rob...but not necessary. I have left enough breadcrumbs in my profile and introduction for fellow "logheads" to follow. Log Homes on the Internet (Lhoti.com) has over a 1,000 registered members, 1400 companies in the directories, and is the largest log home information portal on the web. We welcome anyone interested in this ancient and modern building technique. But that is not to say we are not nterested in other forms of buildings. In fact you will find many middle-earth inspired buildings and discusion there....which I will unabashedly drag over here if you permit me.
My company, Log Rhythms, Inc. is involved in many designs for The Shire which include all the working drawings for the first phase (Butterfly, Monarch, Holly, Pheasant cottages, North, South and Eastbridge Townhomes) and the complete design and construction documents of The Swordsman (a Medusald inspiration). There are hobbit holes on the property but alas...not hobbit dwellings. But there is more to come, Shire Woods and The North Shire. These will have more than 200 dwellings and I'm sure we will lobby for at least a few hobbit dwellings.
We live in exciting times! |

I must say I am very impressed with the Shire subdivision. That is simply gorgeous! It isn't really, aujthentically hobbity, but it is very Tolkienesque and suggests places like Bree, and hobbit lovers would certainly enjoy living there. If I lived in that part of the country, I would look into it. Of course, I suppose it would be expensive to buy a house there. |
